The Vermont Department of Labor is excited to have you join the Spring Job Fest 2026 in the Southwest Region! This events will be OUTDOORS and will have a farmer's market feel! First implemented in the Fall of 2021 in response to HIGH recruitment needs from the COVID-19 pandemic, these events have gained GREAT popularity & praise! The Workforce in Motion Summit and Equipment Rodeo is being hosted by the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region at the VTSU Castleton Campus this May! It's designed to inspire, direct and support the next generation workforce and reskilled adults to accredited career pathways and placement with qualified employment partners.

Hiring and Retention Essentials for Vermont Employers

The Community College of Vermont (CCV) Career Pathway Entry Program (CPEP) is offering ten, 30-minute virtual workshops to help business partners enhance their hiring and retention practices. 

 

Current Vermont Registered Apprenticeship Programs

The Vermont Department of Labor has released an easy-to-use tool to help find local Registered Apprenticeship programs! This searchable, sortable table is ideal for filtering the programs by town, county, occupation, or even employer, and will be updated quarterly.

ROAD to Success

According to the 2020 Census, rural Vermont students are currently less likely than their urban counterparts to enroll in and graduate from four-year education programs.

Funded by The U.S. Department of Education Rural Post-secondary and Economic Development program, ROAD to Success is designed to link students from rural Vermont communities to high-wage and high-demand occupations in Vermont.

Training Support and Resources:

Vermont Training Program (VTP) from the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development

The Vermont Training Program (VTP) has partnered with employers of all sizes and training providers to prepare Vermont's employees for the jobs of tomorrow. VTP provides performance-based workforce grants for pre-employment training, training for new hires, and training for incumbent workers. This training can either be on-site or offered through an outside provider. VTP grants may cover up to 50% of the training cost. 

Vermont Youth Employment Program from the Vermont Department of Labor

Individuals between the ages of 16 and 24 who are looking for employment or training opportunities, the Vermont Department of Labor offers the Vermont Youth Employment Program! Services can include tutoring, occupations skills training, supportive services and much more.

Vermont Saves is a new retirement savings program, sponsored by the Office of the State Treasurer.
Here in Vermont, more than 45% of Vermont employers do not offer retirement benefits. Vermont Saves was created to help bridge our state’s retirement gap.

Skills-Based Hiring Resource through Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation

The Vermont Employment Pathfinder (VEP) platform is built on SkillLab's core technology, which is designed to capture a person’s unique skills from their life, education and work experiences and connect them to career pathways. Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation and SkillLab deployed this platform to serve the entire spectrum of the community, creating a more unified and effective workforce system for the state of Vermont.

Vermont's Most Promising Jobs 2025-2026 Edition from the Vermont Department of Labor

Each job listed in this resource is projected to pay a median wage above $30/hour and to have at least 300 openings in the state between 2022-2032. Skills in demand today have long-lasting value and are tools you can take into future jobs.

Living Wage Calculator from MIT

The living wage shown in this resource is the hourly rate that an individual in a household must earn to support themselves and/or their family, working full-time, or 2080 hours per year. The tables in the resource provide living wage estimates for individuals and households with one or two working adults and zero to three children. In households with two working adults, all hourly values reflect what one working adult requires to earn to meet their families’ basic needs, assuming the other adult also earns the same.
